Effect of Abutilon indicum in thyroxine-induced hyperthyroidism in rat

The study was designed to investigate the antithyroid activity of crude methanolic (70%) extract aerial parts Abutilon indicum in male albino rats. prepared and analyzed for presence phytochemical constituents through preliminary chemical analysis, antioxidant assay GC-MS. vivo activities thyroxine-induced hyperthyroidism were studied. Phytochemical analysis showed alkaloids, flavonoids phenols, also verified by data obtained from Thyroxine increased levels triiodothyronine (4.9 ± 0.1 ng/mL) total thyroxine (9.4 0.2 μg/dL); while, A. at doses 300 500 mg/kg, significant decrease elevated (3.0 2.6 (7.7 7.1 μg/dL), respectively. Histopathological studies restoration filled follicular colloids extract-treated animals. results show that exhibits dose-dependent effects.
